Discussion 9: improve the quality of your blog comments
Collectively (plural YOU), I find you a little bit too stiff when
you write your comments. There is a sense of officiality, with
a rigid code or writing.
I would like you to get looser and express opinions freely.
Imagine you are arguing among friends, not giving a speech
from a podium. Of course you want to be articulate and
well spoken, but keep in mind that you are engaging in
a debate. Keep your comments short, lively and to the point.
COMMENT: self analysis: does this recommendation apply
to you? Do you recognize yourself in the description of
the rigid writer?
REPLY with a suggestion on how to loosen up on the blog.

I think this does apply to me. I always try to be formal when writing something for school because that is the way I was taught. But writing in a looser fashion is also a great way to express thoughts and ideas about the topic being taught.
ReplyDeleteA suggestion on how to loosen up a blog is to write as if you are having a conversation with someone.
Deletea suggestion can be try to relate the topic to something personal if you could
DeleteYes, I do feel at times I can be a bit stiff with my comments because I am trying to get my point across while making sure I answer the questions. The style of my writing comes off proper at times when I am trying to answer a specific question.
ReplyDeleteA suggestion could be reading your writing out loud to a friend and see what they think. They can tell you if they understood it and if it made sense to them

ReplyDeleteI do find myself as a stiff writer because I feel I don’t have life lessons that can be related to the topic. I also don’t want to drag out a thought to the point where I’m constantly repeating myself.
ReplyDeleteA suggestion to loosen up your writing could be to try and find a way that a topic relates to you or to a real life experience regardless if you haven't experienced it firsthand.
DeleteI do not think I am a stiff writer but more of a rambler. But I do not think stiff writing is always a bad thing sometimes it helps to get straight to the point and stay of task because sometimes straying off topic can also be harmful.
ReplyDeleteA suggestion to loosen up the blog is making sure your posts is always on topic before you click publish.
DeleteI often find my writing to be rigid and stiff because I am trying to respond to the questions being asked of me. I feel that if I stray from that way of responding I will end up rambling and overthinking my responses.
ReplyDeletethis recommendation do apply to me most of the time i feel like i need to be rigid in the way that i write because this is a college setting.
ReplyDeleteI would consider myself a stiff writer usually and I try not to be. Sometimes I feel that my vocabulary is limited and the way how I articulate myself is becoming less day by day. For being a film critic, sometimes I find myself recycling the same sentences time after time again which transitions to how I write other things such as essays. Now since I am at an advanced level of education it's becoming more difficult as I become more self conscious to the way I write.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I am in the rush I keep writing some things that don’t really make sense and I could be all over the place as well as off the topic. And also I understand that this is a formal writing that my professor will be reading, so I want to make sure I write appropriate stuff.
